About Cultivate

Cultivate is a 'practical sustainability' organisation focused on active education with facilities in Dublin and Cloughjordan, Co Tipperary.

The Convergence Festival, run 16 times by Cultivate since 2000, has functioned as a vehicle for collaboration with a huge variety of groups and individuals.  Established in the year 2000, Convergence is Ireland’s longest running sustainable living festival. For more than a decade this unique programme of events has celebrated community resilience and social inclusion whilst championing the changes needed to create a sustainable economy, society and built environment.

Other Cultivate programmes include:

Cultivate in Cloughjordan | Contact | Cultivate's Cloughjordan branch reaches out to rural communities and runs courses and events working closely with The Ecovillage.

Cultivate in Dublin | Contact | Cultivate's wide range of experience has been accumulated through running our former centres in Temple Bar and nearby at The Greenhouse. Cultivate has acted as a meeting place and incubator for a wide variety of sustainability organisations since 2003, while our drop-in facility has provided comprehensive information on sustainability issues to the general public. Cultivate has formed a key role in furthering the profile of sustainability in Ireland and has enjoyed support from all sectors, offering a space for businesses, NGOs, CSOs, Government and grassroots organisations to share perspectives and to work together.

Cultivate maintains close links with many NGOs and sustainability organisations including The Village, ECO-UNESCO, Feasta and other members of the IEN network. We are a founding member of Stop Climate Chaos, The Regional Centre of Expertise on Sustainable Development and the focal point of Ireland's Transition Town Network. Cultivate also host Éasca, Ireland's ecological and sustainable construction association. All of these organisations are users of The Greenhouse.

We aim to equip people to respond to the twin issues of energy vulnerability and climate change by providing access to the knowledge and tools that cultivate sustainable lifestyles and resilient communities.

Cultivate's main target groups are the general public and those seeking to deepen their understanding of sustainability. We reach a large number of people through our festivals, courses and events, Convergence Festival and our outreach and consultancy work with other festivals such as the Electric Picnic.

Themes we address in our educational programmes include:
Thermal Insulation Class

Permaculture Class

surfing the waves of change
