A two-day learning experience in Cloughjordan hosted by Cultivate in association with The Change Exploratory and the Cloughjordan Ecovillage.

This course is designed for anyone interested in building their capacity as a change maker, or working in the areas of neighborhood and rural regeneration, sustainability, local resilience, the environment, community development and green business.

The intention of this course is to build the capacity of people to adapt and deliver the Community Powerdown course that has been developed by Cultivate.
Over 100 people have completed this course and many have gone on to deliver courses in their own community.

  • Develop your skills in facilitating groups
  • Learn to use new tools to host conversations in your community
  • Explore strategic approaches to working collaboratively
  • Build your capacity to adapt and deliver a training course for sustainable communities

This 2 day course is designed not only for facilitators and coaches but anyone interested in building their capacity as a change maker, or working in the areas of neighborhood and rural regeneration, sustainability, local resilience, the environment, community development, green business and Transition Towns.

Location:  The two-day workshop will be held at Django’s Hostel in the heart of the Ecovillage in Cloughjordan, North Tipperary. The course includes a tour of the ecovillage with a focus on community resilience.

Costs for this two day course are €150 with a 10% discount for anyone on benifits, students and Cultivate and Ecovillage members.  This includes a light lunch on both days, a DVD with the 10 films that are used in the delivery of the learning plus two PDF handbooks, one for the learners, and one for the hosts. Price does not include accommodation.

The Trainers

Davie Philip is a founder member of the Cloughjordan eco-village (www.thevillage.ie).  He has been Education Manager for Cultivate Living & Learning (www.cultivate.ie) for 12 years and has acted as a catalyst for Transition Initiatives in Ireland and Northern Ireland  (www.transitiontownsireland.ning.com ) Davie’s current passions include the development of resilient communites and the potential of the eco-village as a destination for learning.  Davie was the driving force behind the Community Powerdown TV show and has recently directed a new animated film called ‘Surfing the Waves of Change.’

Chris Chapman is an experienced independent host and facilitator.  Chris initiated the first ‘Art of Hosting’ training in Ireland (www.artofhosting.org ) and has led a variety of emergent initiatives inquiring into the models of leadership and leadership development needed in contemporary Ireland.  In 2010, Chris was invited by ALIA (Authentic Leadership in Action – www.aliainstitute.org) to co-host their first leadership development event in Europe. Chris has an MSc in ‘Change Agent Skills and Strategies’ from the University of Surrey Business School and has his own company – www.changeexploratory.ie
